MEET MADDISON: Hi I’m Maddison I’m 15 years old and I live in North Wales. I have danced since I was 2 and I started competitive dance when I joined my current dance school ‘Elsberdance‘ when I was 9. I take classes in modern, tap, commercial, lyrical, ballet, jazz and I even take Irish dance classes. I have been lucky enough to represent Wales at the Dance World Cup for the last 4 years and last year competed an acro solo for the first time and was placed 5th in my section. Last year I was also lucky enough to win a silver medal as part of a group song and dance. I appeared on CBBC’s Series 2 of Taking the Next Step getting down to the final 30 dancers and also appeared on Series 1 of BBC’s The Greatest Dancer where my acro skills where recognised by Diversity’s Jordan Banjo! I have recently really started focusing more on my acro skills and loved all the AcroPAD zoom lessons over lockdown. Lockdown gave me some time to really clean up my moves and learn new moves.
WHAT'S IN YOUR DANCE BAG: In my dance bag at the moment is a face mask, hand gel, dance shoes and biscuits for a quick sugar fix.
FAVE ACRO MOVE: My favourite acro move is probably the handstand as there are so many variations and tricks that can be done from a handstand.
WHO IS YOUR HERO: My role model is my mum because she stands up for what she believes in and has taught me that I can achieve anything I want with hard work and self belief.
ON MY REST DAY: When I’m not dancing I enjoy chilling out watching Netflix, some of my fave shows are Friends, Friday Night Dinner, Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders and scary movies. I enjoy travelling and love shopping.
